Vintage II
2004 Pinot Noir
-420 Cases Produced-

When speaking to the top winemakers of the Russian River Valley region, one point is articulated in a redundant fashion: The secret to making high quality Pinot Noir is very much about the fruit. The direction of Pinot Noir has really become the incorporation of recent findings into everyday farming.

More advanced grape growing techniques using the modern methods available to today's farmer including proper irrigation programs and trellis design as well as the protection of the soils micronutrients with new cover crop mixes all can be major components to achieving a prized final product.

At Oakwild Ranch, our vineyard has been strategically planted with closer vine spacing yielding fewer grape clusters and smaller berries which have proven to dramatically improve fruit flavor. Our agricultural team has spent time meticulously farming our vineyard to produce grapes with texture, intensity and concentration.

We are very proud of our Vintage II 2004 Pinot Noir which displays a complex elegance that is very well balanced and certainly centered. Our clonal blending has produced a wine where hints of cherry and blackberry abound with wonderful layers of full flavor and finesse culminating with a silky finish. This is a different wine than our 2003 and shows nice character and complexity reminiscent of a traditional burgundy. This small lot promises to cellar very well for the future.

We are not only proud to farm this incredible land, send our grapes to the best winemakers in the county, but now proudly offer our own 2004 Vintage II release for you to enjoy.
