Clone 4 Chardonnay

After receiving many calls and letters from our Pinot Noir fans and friends and family to make some Chardonnay, we are happy to announce a very limited release of our 2004 Clone 4 Chardonnay.

We were very fortunate to be allowed a small portion of a Clone 4 Chardonnay vineyard just a stone's throw from our Oakwild Ranch vineyard. It was with much persistence that we were able to obtain these wonderful grapes in a vineyard shared by many of the top Russian River Chardonnay winemakers in the region.

Having top winemakers of the region consult with this vineyard's farming team is the ultimate way of assuring a fine product. The owner of the vineyard welcomed input regarding water regulation, selective leaf pulling and necessary pruning to surpass all acceptable standards necessary in achieving the quality seen in our first release Clone 4 Chardonnay.

The Chardonnay is full of fruit with hints of mineral. The aromas of apples and pears abound with a slight taste of citrus on the palate. This lovely wine has a balanced acidity and a long finish. This gentle and lasting finish makes this Chardonnay a really nice representative of Russian River Chardonnays coupled with the slightest notes of a stellar burgundy.

Enjoy this wonderful Clone 4 Chardonnay with a grilled shrimp and avocado salad or a nice roasted halibut topped with a fruit salsa. Whether or not you happened to be part of the many that encouraged our making of this fine Chardonnay, please know that the experience and the end result have both been extremely rewarding.
